Why it is essential as an overcomer to acknowledge the spiritual battleground in your life and the world
When we are confronted with an uncomfortable truth, what do we do with it? We may have been trained to think a certain way about things, but if we have a heart to serve God and follow Him, we need to make allowances for correction or redirection in how we think, speak, and act. One topic that is particularly touchy in the Christian circle is who the devil is and how his spiritual kingdom can affect us in the physical dimension. According to the Bible, our battle is not physical but spiritual, so if we negate the enemy’s influence in the earth, we’ve already half lost the battle. That’s why God’s Word says that His people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. And there are very real consequences of our ignorance of how spirituality influences our lives, including mental and physical health struggles. Let’s level the playing field and put the believers back on the seat of authority over the enemy as successful overcomers in Christ.
Confronting Lack of Knowledge Concerning the Enemy
Have you ever heard the phrase ‘the devil made me do it,’ or ‘his/her devils got to him/her?’ You may have heard it said in the secular world when something obviously evil happened. But what do these words really mean? What are people trying to convey in those clichés? Which devil got a hold of him or her? These phrases are thrown out there as if a generic acknowledgment of an invisible force is all that is needed and that we need to quietly move on.
Let’s take some of these thoughts and break them down. It is possible that Christians have used these same phrases as a panicky acknowledgment of the spirit world but do not want to do any serious investigation on how devils operate. Is it possible that many are willfully ignorant of the spiritual battleground? That could be due to our denominational upbringing or a sin called ‘fear of evil.’
However, being born again requires we live by the standards of the Kingdom of Heaven. We are held responsible to execute faith and prayer in the earth against Lucifer’s kingdom.
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. Hosea 4:6 KJV
True knowledge from the Word of God will overthrow deception.
In light of what Hosea says, what is realistic here? Are God’s people required to be scholars and theologians to prevent rejection from God? No! Rather, study your Bible, and He will keep you from Luciferian deception. Being willingly ignorant or holding onto teachings that misrepresent His mind and ways will deceive you that God is rejecting you.
God is a Spirit, and we must go through life interacting with Him as a human spirit made in His image. If we rely solely on our human physical experiences and knowledge, we will be deceived even as Christians. Long-term deception leads to territory gained by the enemy. Discerning deception is not that difficult if you comb through the Word of God for solutions.
If we reject knowledge, we will be easily deceived.
There are MANY occultic voices, teachings, and powerful experiences going on in the world. These encounters are becoming more prevalent and accepted as a new normal. In the last 100+ years, Lucifer has rapidly synchronized many religions of the world together.
He is going to unify many of them together in a false peace, and it will tempt even the very elect to compete for the glory only God deserves. The temptation is massive, and it’s coming in many forms, but the Good News has always been straightforward for believers, as found in 1 John.
He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 1 John 3:8-9 KJV
God’s people need to be His tools of righteousness in the earth.
Believers (not political Christians) are all God has in the earth. The Godhead has to use believers to bring heaven to earth! He used a donkey and pigs once to demonstrate His ministry, but He prefers humans! We must be about the Father’s business, in the name of Jesus Christ, to destroy the works the devil is doing. But how?
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. … And they went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen. Matthew 16:15-18, 20 KJV
Don’t reject knowledge; use it to overthrow the works of the enemy in the world.
So, what is the devil really making people do? The devil’s core plan is to separate everyone (unbelievers as well as believers) from God. We must do the opposite and bring people to God through the message of reconciliation. Lucifer uses spirits of infirmity and Pharmacia to diminish the effectiveness of God’s people.
We must be bringing healing and miracles. Spiritual problems require spiritual solutions. The Spirit can lead those that believe in doing any of the nine gifts of the Spirit.
But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another [divers] kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 KJV
Christian faith includes the Holy Spirit working through us.
Be encouraged that any of the nine gifts are available to destroy the works of the devil. Make yourself available to the Holy Spirit to operate in ANY of the nine gifts of the Spirit. Scripture says to desire the best gift. In other words, if someone is before you in need, which of the nine gifts do they need the most? Stir up the gift of God in you and make yourself available to the Holy Spirit.
Have you received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit since you believed in God? He is the power of God in the earth to make sense of the invisible kingdom affecting us all. These stanzas from a 15th-century hymn by Martin Luther exhort us to overcome evil with God’s goodness and power working through us:
A Mighty Fortress is our God
And though this world, with devils filled,
Should threaten to undo us,
We will not fear, for God hath willed
His truth to triumph through us:
The Prince of Darkness grim,
We tremble not for him;
His rage we can endure,
For lo! his doom is sure,
One little word shall fell him.
That word above all earthly powers,
No thanks to them, abideth;
The Spirit and the gifts are ours
Through Him who with us sideth:
Let goods and kindred go,
This mortal life also;
The body they may kill:
God’s truth abideth still,
His Kingdom is forever.
