Angela’s Testimony of Healing from Acute Diverticulitis
I woke up early one morning with tremendous abdominal pain. I was vomiting and dry heaving. I went to the doctor and received an antibiotic shot which calmed everything down for the moment. I had a CT scan, and I was diagnosed with a mild case of diverticulitis.
Then a few months later, I had another more intense attack. I went to the hospital in an ambulance and had another CT scan, and the situation was worse. The third attack was dynamite. I had to stay in the hospital because I couldn’t keep anything down. I was in a lot of pain. The doctor told me that I had acute diverticulitis, a very large abscessed outcrop or growth from my colon.
The surgeon told me that I needed to have the abscess and a portion of my colon removed and that I’d have to wear a colostomy bag. When I asked how long, he told me for the rest of my life. The doctor also pointed out that it was unusual that I’d have such a swift onset in less than a year.
I was very sick for almost three months after that. My niece, Julie, and her husband, Steve, took care of me the whole time. Then one night, Julie spent the night, and she shared with me the principles she’d learned at Be in Health and the possible spiritual roots to my disease, and then she prayed with me. I was open, received what she had to say, repented, and prayed what she led me to pray.
When I got my following CT scan, I had to wait four days for the results. When the nurse finally called, she told me that all the infection was gone. I asked her to recheck my record because I didn’t think she was aware of the seriousness of my condition, and she confirmed that it was all gone! I was so excited; I called Julie right away to tell her the news.
I would say to someone struggling with disease and seeking God for answers to first trust Him that He is faithful and will lead you to the answers you need for your life. Then be obedient when He shows you something in your life that needs to be dealt with or leads you to do something. Don’t just sit there and feel sorry for yourself; reach out.
